Nice!! Thanks for the updates and good find on hbu.edu. That makes the schedule 16 games, not including the SMU exhibition, and that total is the same as last season. And the only spot on the calendar where we could possibly squeeze one or two more games is the gap between October 3rd and October 16th.
You are right Terror - a day game immediately following a night game? Not even one day off? That is crazy, especially for soccer. And look at the beginning of our schedule; Sep 3 at Air Force, Sep 5 at Denver, and Sep 10 and 12 in Kentucky. We have a flurry of games to open and close our 2010 season.
I am looking forward to it! This will undoubtedly be our toughest schedule of the recent years. 5 teams in the final 2009 season RPI top 100; three in the top 30. The highest rank in our conference was Adelphi at number 111. SMU, our exhibition opponent, was number 79. San Diego and Butler dropped out of the Top 25 in the rankings on the final poll of the season.
San Diego St - 2009 RPI #20
San Diego - 2009 RPI #23
Butler - 2009 RPI #30
Kentucky - 2009 RPI #56
Bradley - 2009 RPI #98
Adelphi - 2009 RPI #111
SMU - 2009 RPI #79
It will be very interesting to see how we perform this season. Our 5 toughest opponents on paper come up against us during our first 7 games, so we may begin the season with a poor win-loss record. Even if that is the case, of our remaining 9 games, 5 are at Sorrels Field and one at a neutral site; we should be the favorite in most of those games. After losing some players due to alleged friction between coach and players, it will be even more interesting to see how the team performs with Coach Jones, our returning starters, and the newcomers.
